ive read most the comments and i was just thinking alot of you are comparing this to the comics of superman, yes the writers have stolen the story from their but they not going to make it the same it wlll become boring obviously,

The thing about Jimmy is that he isnt the same one from the comics. That’s his younger brother. Jimmy’s first name is Henry. Smallville tries to stay as true to the comics as possible. Which is why Lois will never learn Clarks secret, and Lana and Clarks relationship cant last.

Deaths are not permament. Clark has already changed the past once to save Lana. Also, that was a piss poor excuse for a fight between Clark and Doomsday, which is why there has to be another one. We already see this season that Chloe is upset with Clark, that Jimmy died, The Green Arrow is all jacked up over Jimmy’s death, and Clark has realized that everyone can’t be saved, which is what the Green Arrow tried to tell him. Plus, we see everything is going to go to shit because of clark and lois’s relationship.
Clark is definately going back in time and fighting Doomsday again, instead of trying to save him. Jimmy will live again, which will solve Chloe’s and the Green Arrows problem. The future will also be fixed because of it. Chloe might die because of Clark changing the past. We all know that the past can’t be changed without something bad happening to someone else, which is what happened with Clark’s dad. Or, Jimmy and Chloe might leave, which will open the door for the real Jimmy Olsen.
I’m thinking Zod will get the legion ring somehow and clark will have to fight him for it. I think they could really make this season kick ass. Two boss battles would be pretty sweet.

First, yeah we didn’t get a big fight scene between Clark and Davis, but you can only do so much in an hour. I really feel that the Doomsday episode actually leaves room for a follow up episode that could reveal what really happened between the two titans of might. Outside of that, I feel that the episode was really good. In fact, I believe that the series has done a great deal to reinvent the mythos of Superman and transform him into a contemporary of Batman the Dark Knight. The series gives us what the Movie Superman failed to deliver, a Clark that is not only believable but possessed of depth and feeling. It provided us with a Clark that is vulnerable and not all powerful. As a fan of both Marvel and DC characters, I found that the flaw in DC characters with the exception of Justice League Unlimited was that they were too powerful, too perfect — that with the exception of Batman and other more flesh and blood characters in DC most DC heroes such as Superman are too powerful to encounter challenges on Earth or individuals that are capable of overcoming their unearthly might no matter how brilliant they may be. If the movie Superman Returns had been as well written, directed and acted as Smallville it may have had a chance at the box office. I could very easily see Tom Welling playing opposite of Christian Bale in their iconic roles.
I also got a chance to see Clark’s new uniform, it was a drastic improvement over the original — about time someone dumped the original red and blue and changed up for something classier. Every costume is not appropriate for each generation. Bat’s has had a number of upgrades since he first appeared in DC comics. Its surprising that Supes is just getting his. I hope that they attempt at least four more seasons with one of those seasons bringing both icons Bats and Supes face to face or at least Supes and our favorite feminist Wonder Woman. What I would like to see in the rewriting of this myth is for Lana to be carrying Clark’s child while Chole is carrying either Jimmy Olsens or Doomsday’s. Perhaps Chole could have a child by Jimmy that is affected by her mother’s tryst with kryptonite and Brianiac. Now that I would really like to see them pull off in a way that they failed to do so in the movie.
doomsday is zods son, if you recall zods wife came back from the phantom zone and possessed lois, she mentioned zod was her husband and that there genetic son was in fact davis bloom also know as doomsday. i know some great webs where you can watch all the smallville episodes up to season 9

tess in this episode saiys that the orb will only realease its lifeform if the traveller has kiiled doomsday so at the end it releases its lifeform so dooms must be somehow dead.and i think that Jimmys brother must be the jimmy who comes in Superman and helps him.i kind of liked the episode and clark will be flying next season
I agree totally. Did not like this epsiode unfortunately, I thought it was, no I was hoping it was chloe that died. Don’t get me wrong I love Chloe and the way Alison plays her, but this episode seemed like a cheap way out. Jimmy finds out secret, then dies because once again anyone who finds out Clark’s secret apart from Chloe is memory wiped or killed. AND THEN conveniently he has a little brother to take Jimmy’s place as Clark’s little reporter sidekick… I’m assuming that’s what would happen. The whole fight with doomsday was under par as well, quite lame in fact… I am a long Smallville fan, but lately it has not been to my liking. If season 9 doesn’t pick up the slack then I don’t know if this is worth watching anymore in my opinion.
umm this isn’t the Great fight between Doomsday and Clark, coz there’s not supposed to be such a fight…Doomsday’s final fight is with Superman, wayyyyyy after all this…they had to find a way to get rid of Doomsday for now…Doomsday is supposed to resurface years later to start the final battle with the Justice League, which finally leads to The Death Of Superman(look up the comic)…..
plus I think they’re trying to stray as far as possible from the main story of Superman so that they can take their time to bring it back, since they have another season to work with it….
PLUS as Lois is stuck in time somewhere, its very probable that she will change something and Jimmy will come back to life or something….this is all so that they can build onto the final point where Superman comes out, which means Clark will try to fight crime without letting his emotions get involved but then will realize he can’t do that….
these guys are freakin brilliant at manipulating the story and I don’t think after 8 seasons of work they’ll screw it up…just gotta wait…:-P

Clark dropped Doomsday down the mile deep tunnel and then he flew out. When Chloe asked him how he escaped, Clark paused (he knew the answer) and just said "I don't know". Doomsday can't fly, he can jump like the Hulk. Being at least a mile underground he would have no way to jump out. He is probably strong enough to jump through a mile of dirt but that much force would require a harder surface from which to push off. The ground would cave beneath him. Anyway, it's just a show dude..

That Jimmy does not come back! The Real Jimmy Olsen in the comics is 10 years younger than Clark and Lois….The little boy at the end is the real Jimmy. Hense the camera-the passing of the torch. And in the comics Doomsday does not die he is burried underground but not dead and he escapes.
Maybe that’s all Smallville needs to be for Clark to become Superman. Perhaps we all have the wrong end of the Sci fi stick here and Smallville is more focused on Clark’s emotional progress rather than his powers.

I think the point of killing of Davis was to make Clark Kemt realize that some humans are bad. I also think that is why Clark hasn’t been in any good fight scenes yet, because his human side is restraining him. So my guess is that by killing off Jimmmy and Davis, they are going to start the transformation from Clark Kent to Superman, which also means kick-ass fight scenes from now on.

In this season they finally started bringing the Justice League together (even though they are calling The Flash, Impulse probably some copy write thing) and thought that we would get a true glimpse of Superman. But NO we got another Huge disappointment and the future superman cant even pull himself together to throw a single punch. Doomsday was the one who Pushed superman to the limit even death and all that happened was he got punched once. LAME
I dont know how much you know about it but Doomsday was stronger than Superman and he was a alien weapon but he was not Kryptonian at all. Bringing back Zod is another sign that they truly running out of ideas. The only other person that gives Superman a true fight is Deathside but that would be way to complicated to bring in to Smallville so we get Zod again.

Just think for a sec ok in the comic book Doomsday rips out of the ground ( which is where Clark just put him). The fight isn’t over so stop whining that here wasn’t enough action the writers do that to leave you guessing and in some cases complaining because they didn’t give you exactly what you wanted.

Are you kidding me? This season brought the show back to life! evvery season before season 5 or 6 was basically monotonous. I thought I was watching a soap. Then it started getting better in season 7 but THIS season MADE the show. Clark, now riding himself of his human side, can finally become superman which will create new, CREATIVE twists instead of the same thing as all the other seasons. Then Clark will realize he needs his human side and will become a full fledged Superman.
I think you are missing the point a little. Like i’ve said before, now they actually make a really good story plot because it wont be all soappy-ish. This episode set the ground work for something i’m sure will blow us away

I question your comment and wonder what Doomsday you were watching. Smallville gave the viewers dissapointment, but in a different way. They killed off characters that we liked and thought weren’t going die, and if they did not kill off any one then they would be like all the other shows. And the fact that ended the season on a boom shell like that making all the viewers wanting more,

they end EVERY season on a bombshell. The episode itself wasn’t disappointing at all, but the character of Doomsday was. Doomsday is the only character to ever actually kill Superman. This incarnation of Doomsday just flipped a few cars and jumped over buildings. Kind of anti-climatic for the “ultimate destroyer.”

But rumor has it that Darkseid will make an apperance on season 9. Check out the season 9 trailer on youtube, bad quality but it waz at the comic con Clark flies and has a black trench coat on, with a silver S on his chest. So they are puttin a good spin on smallville kinda keeping to the roots of how clark became superman
yeah. I wish they’d stick with that, more. Half the time they try to stay true to keeping Smallville the story about Superboy and his path to the title of Superman, and then they turn around and develop the story into their own interpretation of a modern-day Superman, completely disregarding the fact that the story is supposed to lead to the rise of the man of steel. I wish they stuck with the latter production more, because it gives them so much more to work with, and they wouldn’t have to keep making up lame plot excuses so the show can end where the story of Superman begins. I say Smallville should just turn into a completely different Superman universe. They could even pull a Star Trek and say a new timeline or something was created when Clark saved Chloe from Braniac, as the Legion mentioned in their time Chloe didn’t play a role in history aka the comic and movie storylines up to now, maybe?

They said season nine will be thier last season in which clark learns to fly and dons his red cape but the smallville cast at comic con said they wont make a season 10 or atleast its unlikely. then again, season 7 and 8 were supposed to be the ends…and twice they prolonged the contracts of (most of) the actors for another season. so will there be a season 10? lets hope so…

I agree totally. Did not like this epsiode unfortunately, I thought it was, no I was hoping it was chloe that died. Don’t get me wrong I love Chloe and the way Alison plays her, but this episode seemed like a cheap way out. Jimmy finds out secret, then dies because once again anyone who finds out Clark’s secret apart from Chloe is memory wiped or killed. AND THEN conveniently he has a little brother to take Jimmy’s place as Clark’s little reporter sidekick… I’m assuming that’s what would happen. The whole fight with doomsday was under par as well, quite lame in fact… I am a long Smallville fan, but lately it has not been to my liking. If season 9 doesn’t pick up the slack then I don’t know if this is worth watching anymore in my opinion.
umm this isn’t the Great fight between Doomsday and Clark, coz there’s not supposed to be such a fight…Doomsday’s final fight is with Superman, wayyyyyy after all this…they had to find a way to get rid of Doomsday for now…Doomsday is supposed to resurface years later to start the final battle with the Justice League, which finally leads to The Death Of Superman(look up the comic)…..
plus I think they’re trying to stray as far as possible from the main story of Superman so that they can take their time to bring it back, since they have another season to work with it….
PLUS as Lois is stuck in time somewhere, its very probable that she will change something and Jimmy will come back to life or something….this is all so that they can build onto the final point where Superman comes out, which means Clark will try to fight crime without letting his emotions get involved but then will realize he can’t do that….
these guys are freakin brilliant at manipulating the story and I don’t think after 8 seasons of work they’ll screw it up…just gotta wait…:-P

Clark dropped Doomsday down the mile deep tunnel and then he flew out. When Chloe asked him how he escaped, Clark paused (he knew the answer) and just said "I don't know". Doomsday can't fly, he can jump like the Hulk. Being at least a mile underground he would have no way to jump out. He is probably strong enough to jump through a mile of dirt but that much force would require a harder surface from which to push off. The ground would cave beneath him. Anyway, it's just a show dude..

Doomsday is not dead. He is stuck in suspended animation underground. The untimate fight between Clark and Doomsday does not take place till long after he becomes Superman. And Doomsday is discovered on earth underground in suspended animatioin and released when his is unearth’d.

I think the point of killing of Davis was to make Clark Kemt realize that some humans are bad. I also think that is why Clark hasn’t been in any good fight scenes yet, because his human side is restraining him. So my guess is that by killing off Jimmmy and Davis, they are going to start the transformation from Clark Kent to Superman, which also means kick-ass fight scenes from now on.

In this season they finally started bringing the Justice League together (even though they are calling The Flash, Impulse probably some copy write thing) and thought that we would get a true glimpse of Superman. But NO we got another Huge disappointment and the future superman cant even pull himself together to throw a single punch. Doomsday was the one who Pushed superman to the limit even death and all that happened was he got punched once. LAME
I dont know how much you know about it but Doomsday was stronger than Superman and he was a alien weapon but he was not Kryptonian at all. Bringing back Zod is another sign that they truly running out of ideas. The only other person that gives Superman a true fight is Deathside but that would be way to complicated to bring in to Smallville so we get Zod again.

Just think for a sec ok in the comic book Doomsday rips out of the ground ( which is where Clark just put him). The fight isn’t over so stop whining that here wasn’t enough action the writers do that to leave you guessing and in some cases complaining because they didn’t give you exactly what you wanted.

And Davis dieing is just mean, wuy make Olaver right when proving him rong makes humanity look BETTER, instinctual or not I still beleave Davis is good. But I’m happy Sam will return as Zod, Maybe they will make him look older, or wizer with makeup, I don’t think it would look all that great with him looking the same.

Are you kidding me? This season brought the show back to life! evvery season before season 5 or 6 was basically monotonous. I thought I was watching a soap. Then it started getting better in season 7 but THIS season MADE the show. Clark, now riding himself of his human side, can finally become superman which will create new, CREATIVE twists instead of the same thing as all the other seasons. Then Clark will realize he needs his human side and will become a full fledged Superman.
I think you are missing the point a little. Like i’ve said before, now they actually make a really good story plot because it wont be all soappy-ish. This episode set the ground work for something i’m sure will blow us away

I question your comment and wonder what Doomsday you were watching. Smallville gave the viewers dissapointment, but in a different way. They killed off characters that we liked and thought weren’t going die, and if they did not kill off any one then they would be like all the other shows. And the fact that ended the season on a boom shell like that making all the viewers wanting more,

But rumor has it that Darkseid will make an apperance on season 9. Check out the season 9 trailer on youtube, bad quality but it waz at the comic con Clark flies and has a black trench coat on, with a silver S on his chest. So they are puttin a good spin on smallville kinda keeping to the roots of how clark became superman
yeah. I wish they’d stick with that, more. Half the time they try to stay true to keeping Smallville the story about Superboy and his path to the title of Superman, and then they turn around and develop the story into their own interpretation of a modern-day Superman, completely disregarding the fact that the story is supposed to lead to the rise of the man of steel. I wish they stuck with the latter production more, because it gives them so much more to work with, and they wouldn’t have to keep making up lame plot excuses so the show can end where the story of Superman begins. I say Smallville should just turn into a completely different Superman universe. They could even pull a Star Trek and say a new timeline or something was created when Clark saved Chloe from Braniac, as the Legion mentioned in their time Chloe didn’t play a role in history aka the comic and movie storylines up to now, maybe?

They said season nine will be thier last season in which clark learns to fly and dons his red cape but the smallville cast at comic con said they wont make a season 10 or atleast its unlikely. then again, season 7 and 8 were supposed to be the ends…and twice they prolonged the contracts of (most of) the actors for another season. so will there be a season 10? lets hope so…
