smallville isn’t about making sure it fits in with the mythology, it’s a story in it’s own, your suggestions can be done in a few episodes, and they’ve got a whole new season planned, so there’s plenty of time to prepare for the ‘mythology’
i grew up with the comics, but I still love Smallville the way it it. It’s differant and it’s more real. I don’t think I would like it much if Chloe was gone and he donned his blue spandex, it just wouldnt be Smallville anymore.

Lol like this guy ^, he’s right about the mythology shizzle, no need to follow it exactly, smallville is just a tweaked version, think of how much has been changed in different era’s of the comics, the movies weren’t exactly in twine with them.

Ok, point taken about the mythology. And yes, my suggestions could quickly be introduced by the producers next season, it could all be done in one episode potentially.
The trouble is, you’re then faced with another season possibly without Lex. Yes, there are plenty of DC villains left to introduce (Darkseid, Ultraman etc), but then who is Superman going to take on when he finally appears? I just think another season will test the patience of current fans, particularly if there is no strong cliffhanger at the end of this season.
People have had enough and want to see some flying and Superman. We’ve enjoyed the long story buildup, the exploration of Lex’s descent, the failed Lana/Clark relationship, and the death of Jonathan Kent. The writers are going to have to make a decision about whether the show is going in the direction it should be going, or end up in an embarassing situation where every storyline has been used up and a fanbase which has switched to Heroes and Lost.
i agree with the part about lex, it will be a larger struggle for the creators, but i’m pretty sure using season 9 as the ’slowly slide into his destiny’ season will do wonders to keep those hard-core fans interested.
i think the creators don’t exactly know how to handle the dual-identity thing for clark, they don’t seem to like corny outfits, notice how they changed the rest of the justice league? i would say before going into superman, they’ll use this red-blue blur thing to their advantage, it’s still reminiscent of superman, and it gives them more time to figure out how to finally implement the man of steel.
they can always create new temporary villians for filler episodes, so that, while the story builds, there’s something happening during it.
so the problem isn’t having enough material for the whole season, or slowly bringing smallville and superman together, it’s just doing it in the right way that’s gonna keep superman fans, and ‘just smallville fans’ interested, some aren’t too interested in superman, but like smallville, they don’t want to neglect them, cause there’s a lot of them.

Clearly Tess could not be Lex since we saw that he had bugged her for his own stupid reasons, although I do not think he is gone, there is no possible way that Lex is Tess.

GK is right — there were two parachutes in the Queen plane. My guess is that it’s (the two parachutes) a plot point that will be revealed in a future episode.

How do you know that Lex didn’t keep a journal? He might have. What is in said journal is anyone’s guess.
I think the Tess = Lex bit is absurd, personally.
1. Oliver Queen knew Tess Mercer before Lex Luthor was in the picture. I suppose you could say that Lex was a shapeshifter who could assume the form of anyone he’s seen or touched, that he killed Tess and changes into Tess when it suits him. There’s nothing in the show to support such a wild speculation, though.
Tess Mercer is based on two of Lex Luthor’s assistants in his other incarnations (Miss Tessmacher from the movies and Mercy Graves from the cartoons).
She’s her own character, who was a pawn of Lex, but is now independent. She is ambitious and knew Lex well enough to know that if Lex was so obsessed with Clark, there must have been a darn good reason, and she wants to know what that reason is.
I think it’s fair to say that with the departure of the actor that played Lex, Tess Mercer has assumed his role (as someone who could be very dangerous if she learns too much). I think it’s lunacy to say that Lex Luthor somehow had a sex change operation and became Tess Mercer, though.

That could very well happen, and would make sense. She’s smarting from Jimmy’s departure, and Davis is a sympathetic ear.
Add to that the fact that Chloe is a Smallville original, and they’ve got nothing to lose. She’s not like Jimmy or Lois, in that she’s never existed in the traditional Superman universe. Although I like the character, she could get killed (and they seem to be foreshadowing that, by showing her “die” twice already) without ruining anything. People would just conclude “Ok, that’s why we never saw her in Superman – she died before he became Superman.”
If they killed Lois, for example, there would be issues. Killing Chloe? Not so much.
I dunno, I actually like Cloe as a character in the show, she’s like the one thats always been there and if they cut her out then they would have to put Clark through another big depression thing again and who wants more of that? Cloe adds character to the show.

I’m not sure who the male character would be, though. It could be Davis, I suppose. Heck, it wouldn’t be all that big a deal for him, really, considering who he is. “What kills you makes you stronger.” They could kill him to get him out of the series, and Doomsday could eventually come back to battle Superman (after the series), with one less weakness.
These spoilers are totally false, I’ve seen the episodes already which you can tell by me posting about the last two before they were released. I have stopped posting spoilers by request, but Kara does not make a return and no JLA action happens (Oliver is the only member that gets involved for the rest of the season).
As far as 2 cast members dying that is just twisting words….and not true. Without giving away spoilers I can’t explain anymore then that.
No physical appearances by lex for the rest of the show…..lois is MIA for many episodes and most of the story lines seem to center around Chloe (sometimes more then they do around Clark!).
Honestly if you think about what you have seen already you can probably guess at the way things are going to end up at this point. There are a few fluff episodes and them the story lines that have been set up are finished….it’s not hard to figure out how they are going to end up at this point.
But no, Chloe is not going to die in the season. If they ditch her next season it will be for a totally different reason.

Davis as a seperate entity (ie not in doomsday mode) does go poof before the end of the season. His attachment to Chloe allows him to fight his inner “Beast” for awhile but in an episode coming up soon named “Beast” he is going to transform and loose that battle mostly (to the point of being in beast mode but still having feelings for Chloe). Davis as an actor still exists as does his personality at that point, but by the end of the series he is gone and only “Doomsday” remains.
If you really want to know the long term actor who goes poof is Jimmy, but you only think he is dead. It turns out he is still alive and you even find that out this season. Jimmy KNOWS about davis right now and is still trying to protect Chloe which puts him in serious danger. It will look like he is dead for awhile but you find out he is not almost right away.
Nobody else dies, not Oliver, not Tess, Not Chloe, nobody. Even Doomsday doesn’t die exactly (just there is no more davis personality at all).
