It’s all my fault. I don’t know why my father didn’t exchange my dog krypto’s life instead. I love him a lot too, but at least I wouldn’t had missed him as much.
I actually like the way Lex acts and sounds when he’s drunk. Granted, that’s what ends up killing Lana first, but he just sounds softer… Funnier. lol Just think its cool they put a new side to Lex in. This episode is soooo sad. I read reviews on it and didn’t want to watch… Kinda wish Lana woulda just died instead of Johnathan… I mean Lana and Clark don’t end up together in the end so whats the point?
well anyways if you talking about lana not been wit clark at the end jonathan isnt either he is suppost to die just didnt expected it so soon he was a great man
I have to agree with most of the comments to be honest. Saving Lana Lang?? all that character ever did was moan about honesty and truthfullness she was pretty much a pointless character towards the end I have to say her constant bellyaching got kind of tiresome, it was kind of like “you’re with Clark what could you possibly have to moan about NOW!!”
im sure J, Kent died from all the excitement and sudden stress… i mean he won an election just to have his worst fear of lionel having leverage over the family cause he knew the secret. Plus he has had a heart attack in the past and even tho he had a tripple heart bypass done doesnt mean squat. The heart was still weak.
now with my 2 cents put in… can someone maybe shed some light as to why the universe has to find balance by killing someone in clarks life… oh wait … nvm thats why there has to be balance lol sorry been up for hours on end R.I.P J.Kent
I’m so angry that Clark and Lana can’t be together. I don’t find the episodes as interesting anymore now I know that they will never be…and he will never be with Cloe either . They should have changed it from the episodes when he was older. (Sorry for the bad name spelling)
did he have a heart attack? because he saw Lana and LEx so i figured he got a heart attack from seeing Lana with Lex and what would happen to Clark…you know what i am trying to say?
LOL. Yeah. I don’t think I want to even try:
Hi honey… You’ll never guess what.. I’m an alien. I’m really strong, fast, and can shoot fire out of my eyes.. will you marry me?
My favorite part of this episode is when clark is telling his parents about proposing and he’s like.. “I asked her not to answer. It’s a bit much to put on someone all at once”. That’s quite possibly the most obvious thing anyone has ever said.
I guess I don’t follow how you can come up with that conclusion. Several episodes now have shown him under lots of stress from the campaign. Then Lionel goes and shows him those “mysterious” pictures that could “break up” his family. He obviously gets all worked up. I won’t argue against that perhaps maybe what your suggesting contributed or not. But I don’t see it being a significant factor.
“Actually what happened” eh? … Anybody else see an issue with that phrasing??? (sorry, just playing)
But seriously, it depends on what version of the story you want to compare this one two. Superman has been rebooted so many times it’s not even funny. In the original comics, both supermans parents die before he graduates highschool. It’s not until one of the more recent reboots where both are alive while he’s an adult.
Technically it wasn’t jor-el that “exchanged” anyone. In the episode where clark is resurrected, jor-el eludes to how nature wants a balance. What he says is a warning that it’s going to happen.. in a caring fatherly type way. He states that he couldn’t let clark die because his destiny is too important but it was his choice to turn his back.. and this was the price….
But what’s with that anyway? Kryptonians seem to like to address each other with both first and last names. I mean.. I’ve never heard him addressed as “Jor”. Though.. we did here a bar tender address Clark as “Kal”. Maybe we should call him “jory”.
I think the choice to have lana walk away from clark at the end of the episode was an artistic choice. It seems customary for clark to put the first grains of dirt down on the graves of those he really loves and cares about. But at the height of the moment, they wanted to show clark and how he felt. Alone, and that everyone will likely die before him. Most funerals project him alone. When they have wittneys funeral.. he stands alone in the rain.
I also think it the shot with her hand leaving his was symbolic of what you are kind of hinting at here. Her eventually leaving him for Lex.
Clark didn’t give up his father. It’s not like Jor-el said “Kal-El.. if you go back in time to save lana, Your dad’s going to die..” and he’s like… “So? I’m going to get me some of that!”.
But your right.. Lana is a b###h. I mean. people should be all-knowing. Fully aware of all the sacrifices made for them. Since they all are. Her leaving clark truly makes the character a despicable person.
I agree with you a little bit here. But in the series, Johnathon keeps his secrets as well. So.. he’s not 100% perfect.
I find it funny though how this series portrays not telling someone something as “lying”. That’s not lying.. that’s just not telling…. (thank you inner 5 yr old).
So.. yeah. In adult language that means someone isn’t being forward with you. That’s not always a bad thing. Keeping something a “secret” for a while and eventually telling someone is symbolic of healthy growth in the relationship. Sure.. it’s ok to be mad about it too.
Agreed. I will/have missed this character. I think John Schneider played it quite well. Though.. I have to admit.. I am so glad the sappy “We are in this together” speeches are coming to and end. …. … make me want to flicken strangle someone every time.
Actually.. what’s “blowing my mind” on this one is this:
clark wakes up. Asks lana to marry him. Johnathan wins the senate race. Lana gets killed and clark uses a crystal to go back into time to try it again and hopefully she doesn’t die.. now.. if he went back in time wouldn’t the crystal he used to “get there” still exist? And wouldn’t jor-el have no idea that Clark went back in time…
But then again.. it is a story and since we have no idea what would actually happen if one could travel back in time.. the writters are free to make up whatever B.S. they want too.
I can see it now… this episode rewritten by “lana haters”
Instead of clark crying and freaking out over lanas death.. he probably picks up the phone and calls lois. He’s like.. “So.. yeah. Looks like I’m free tonight. The “misses” and I are taking a long break.. Like forever. So. how bout you and me get together tonight?”
Actually… what I expected was that they would be an item for a while, but Clark would never tell her and she would never find out. They would break up.. for some reason. Possibly stress from the double life he leads. I definitely didn’t expect him to propose. In some other versions of the story, lana still pops up every once in a while and causes trouble between adult Kal-El and lois. But I don’t recall off the top of my head if any of the other version are setup with lana knowing his secret.
He seems to think about the costs quite a bit. When he’s younger (as in now), he tends to over think those costs quite a bit. The difference between now and superman is simply youth. He just doesn’t have enough experience yet with all his gifts and his very unique life. Give him more experiences and loosen him up a bit.. throw a cape on him and poof.. here’s superman.
But it’s these twists which help clark figure out how to balance his love life in adulthood. And since supermans love live is a significant portion of the story. So is this will they/ won’t they stuff.
his dad must have taught him to dont cry over spilled milk…it was his choice to go back and save lana and let his dad die (though he never really knew)
when you think about it…that wuld b a real simple solution to everything, and that would piss jor-el off but i have a feeling that would make someone else die. Like lex would suspect these diamonds interrogate Chloe, or Clark’s mom and damn
Or maybe Clark can use the money for protection better than Lex’s, and everyone lives happily ever after. Of course that won’t happen because Clarks future was already decided 50 years ago when the Comic books were being printed.
It’s all my fault. I don’t know why my father didn’t exchange my dog krypto’s life instead. I love him a lot too, but at least I wouldn’t had missed him as much.
His dogs name is Shelby
That would have been an interesting ending…
how did jonathan die???? was it a heart attack or something??
Yes it was a heart attack, again.
I actually like the way Lex acts and sounds when he’s drunk. Granted, that’s what ends up killing Lana first, but he just sounds softer… Funnier. lol Just think its cool they put a new side to Lex in. This episode is soooo sad. I no right. she gets kryptonite in her system. in she can never be with clark. to think clark saved that _____ instead of his dad.
lol i didnt wont to say the word above but i think u no what i mean
I have to agree with most of the comments to be honest. Saving Lana Lang?? all that character ever did was moan about honesty and truthfullness she was pretty much a pointless character towards the end I have to say her constant bellyaching got kind of tiresome, it was kind of like “you’re with Clark what could you possibly have to moan about NOW!!”
i dont like this episode fuck it
Lana you stupid bitch! Clark was alway there for you and you just ditched him like that!?
That episode is so good and so very very sad. Long live Smallville!
Damn…I hate this. I wish he’d never met Lana.
I thought that Clark and Lana would be more time together.
I would love them to stay together for ever.
And Lex… Damn YOU!!!!
it looks like Clark is Jewish.
Jewish put some from the ground on a grave to get thier hand like part of it…
Dis is the saddest episode out of all the episodes of smallville that was ever made…*sob*sob*sob*
im sure J, Kent died from all the excitement and sudden stress… i mean he won an election just to have his worst fear of lionel having leverage over the family cause he knew the secret. lana shouldve died instead…that hoe. this episode was sucked :[
I’m so angry that Clark and Lana can’t be together. I don’t find the episodes as interesting anymore now I know that they will never be…and he will never be with Cloe either
. They should have changed it from the episodes when he was older. (Sorry for the bad name spelling)
Clark gets on my nerves sometimes. Can’t believe he let his father die to save lana. He didn’t even try to go back in time again to save his father.
Can anyone pls tell me the name of the song in the end?
NO RACIST COMMENTS ON THE SITE PLEASE….
no never. I hate how this show has made him out to be such a horrible person.
Well that’s excactly the reacrtion they want, except the quitting watching the show.
The shows great! LOVE IT!
did he have a heart attack? because he saw Lana and LEx so i figured he got a heart attack from seeing Lana with Lex and what would happen to Clark…you know what i am trying to say?
just turn off your modem and turn it on again and enjoy another free hour of megavideo =)
u r soooooooooooooooooo right everything u said was correct
Yes… i though that too. Maybe later
LOL. Yeah. I don’t think I want to even try:

That’s ok. Lois got on my nerves in the first few seconds of her debut episode… and every second since then. Never have been a fan of that character.
“Actually what happened” eh? … Anybody else see an issue with that phrasing??? (sorry, just playing)

I’ll second that motion!
Seriously though. This is my favorite episode of smallville by far.
huh? 1/2 of the school? So….. how many kids go to the school? Lex isn’t even part of the school. What on earth are you talking about?
Easy to make that choice and say that when you know all angles of the “story”, but from the characters perspective.. she does the right thing.
Actually.. what’s “blowing my mind” on this one is this:

The one an only.

lol@ the 76.543 rating.
um… ok… So .. do you only vote for people you really care about? Or do you vote for people you agree with politically?
Course.. it could be that they didn’t have that many standins that day, but also, Mr. Kent was a senator for all of about an hour or whatever.
his dad must have taught him to dont cry over spilled milk…it was his choice to go back and save lana and let his dad die (though he never really knew)
i think “D

He didn’t but he has learned to jump really high.
I think you mean Whitney’s dad’s funeral
I’m not racist I’m a Jewish girl and this what we do in a funeral.
every man and woman step over and put some ground or a little rock on the grave.
I love the SmallVille though
Your a liar. I did that and it still said wait 72 hours.
